It provides a unique form of non-antioxidant protection for our body's cells. It
is a rare water-phase phospholipid which is a building block for the membranes
that forms and drives all cells. Furthermore, GPC is a major source of the key nerve
and muscle neuro-transmitter acetylcholine, and is the body's main reservoir of
the essential nutrient choline.
The small GPC molecule is well absorbed into the watery phase of cells and
quickly circulates with the blood rapidly reaching all the tissues. It aids in
the removal of cholesterol deposits from cell membranes, arteries, fat cells,
and muscle and connective tissue. GPC also lowers the level of lipoprotein A
which is a critical factor in the formation of blood clots during heart attacks
or strokes.
It cleanses all of the arteries in the body, which in turn helps improve the circulation
to the heart, brain, kidney and other organs. It readily crosses the
blood-brain-barrier where it supports numerous brain processes. GPC also has
defined roles in the essential functions of the autonomic nervous system,
reproductive system, endocrine system, skeletal muscles, kidneys and liver.
ARE THERE SIDE EFFECTS?
Adverse effects most commonly reported with the
use of GPC include dizziness, diarrhoea,
nausea and sometimes a sensation of over-excitation. Often this can be
ameliorated by lowering the dose. No adverse GPC-to-prescription drug
interactions were noted in any of the elderly patients participating in the
trials. These individuals continued to take their typical wide variety of
prescription medications or natural supplements while receiving GPC treatments.
However, some prescriptions medicines often had to be decreased or stopped
because of the improvement of the patients' overall condition.
IS GPC SAFE?
Yes, very safe. Of the more than 4000 patients who
received GPC by mouth, intravenously or intra-muscularly in clinical trials, not
one was reported to experience a life-threatening adverse effect. Nor has there
been any such reports from the use of intravenously GPC over the past 10 years
by Chelation doctors worldwide. However, because it is still considered an
experimental treatment (despite its safe and effective us), every patient’s
written informed consent is required.
IS GPC COVERED
BY ALBERTA HEALTH CARE?
Chelation is not covered by Alberta Health Care. Some private (work) insurance companies may cover part of the therapy; however, our clinic does not do any 3rd party billing. After each treatment our clinic will
provide you with a computerized invoice for either your insurance coverage or
your personal files. If you opt to pay for the complete package ahead of time (see Costs) you will receive only one invoice.
INFORMATION
Everyone that begins GPC will receive information on GPC therapy including our
clinic information pamphlet and a recommended supplements list. Each patient is
also encouraged to visit the website: www.plaquex.net.
